Tiffany Haddish Rejoining Cast For Girls Trip 2 Has Fans Divided

Girls Trip 2 has officially been green-lit. The blockbuster comedy starring Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Tiffany Haddish helped make all the ladies millions upon its release. It helped launch Haddish into the mainstream, but recent months have seen her become a controversial figure. So much so that fans are outraged that she is allowed to return to the franchise.

According to Variety, Girls Trip 2 will see the ladies reuniting for a trip to West Africa. Write Tracy Oliver confirmed during a panel at Sundance while promoting her Amazon series “Harlem.” This comes only a few days after director Will Packer admitted that it would be pretty hard to do the film without Tiffany Haddish. If you recall, Girls Trip was Tiffany Haddish’s breakout role. The comedian played a character named Dina, was known as the loud happy-go-lucky friend. Tiffany Haddish’s performance in Girls Trip scored the actress Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 AAFA Awards. The comedian also won Best Comedic Performance at the 2018 MTV Movie Awards.

Following her role in Girls Trip, TIffany went on to star in many films including Uncle Drew, Night School Tyler Perry’s ‘Nobody’s Fool,’ and Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker. While the comedian was on her way to the top, Haddish found herself in a world of trouble late 2022 due to her involvement in a sketch with Aries Spears that featured two children in very questionable positions. The time since has seen her and the family settle things out of court, but the damage seems done to her career. People are not excited to see her back on their screens and do not want her anywhere near the second Girls Trip movie.

“They really trying to continue Girls Trip 2 with Tiffany Haddish like we didn’t see the nasty video she did with Aries Spears?” said one person. Other fans feel that Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James would be a welcomed replacement for Haddish. “Can we have Janelle James replace Tiffany Haddish?” Others are upset that the film could be overshadowed by the drama that Tiffany already apologized for. “Black women already have it hard enough in the entertainment industry,” said one person.

Regardless of the backlash, the film is expected to be filmed in Ghana. Tiffany Haddish will reprise her role as Dina, alongside Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Queen Latifah.
